3. What’s surprising is that：surprising指事物本身令人惊讶，surprised指事物使人感到惊讶，即something is surprising，somebody is surprised by something。相同用法的如exciting，excited;interesting，interested。例如，The book is interesting(这本书很有趣);I am interested in the book(我对这本书很感兴趣)。
4. gadget美[ˈɡædʒɪt]：小玩意，小配件，小装饰，装置，设备。比如我们经常把一些小玩意粘在一个地方，就可以这样说：
The gadget can be attached to any vertical surface.这小玩意儿可以粘在任何垂直表面上。
还可以泛指一些设备，比如遥控器是设备，我们就可以说the remote-control gadget for the television 电视机的遥控器第二句：In Silicon Valley, children are being asked to rediscover card games, board games and the outdoors. Maybe the rest of us should, too.

1. 句子结构分析：People in the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement are devoted to living frugally and investing their cost savings主句，so they can stop working in their 30s or 40s是由so引导的结果状语. Even if you’re not ready to adopt all their tenets是让步状语, cutting some spending是主句的主语，doing作主语， (if you’re able to) 是放在括号里面补充说明的，can always help是cutting some spending的谓语动词.
2. frugal美[ˈfruɡəl]：朴素的;节省的，节俭的;花钱少的。生活简朴，live a frugal life=live frugally。
3. tenet美 [ˈtɛnɪt]：原则，信条，教义
4. stop working 在这里就是retire的意思啦!
5. cutting some spending (if you’re able to) can always help削减一些开支(如果能的话)总是好的。这句话很对，不是说让你现在过得很节俭，三四十就退休，而是让你稍微注意下开支，别一直当月光族啊!

Life is a crush of requests, both professional and personal. You must be the keeper of your time and allow yourself to say no more often. If you don’t, you may burn out and come to hate everything and everyone, including your friends and family and the things formerly known as “fun”. Don’t let that happen to you in 2019.
