Yet，despite the successes of the past 50 years， a massive deveploment challenge remains. Over 1 billion people still live in dire poverty，struggling to survive on a doolar a day or less. Every nation has a huge stake in meeting this challenge .Raising living standards and promoting growth and development in the world's poorer countries not only helps them bult also expands trade ，jobs and incomes in the richer countries.
