　　当Neil Armstrong登上月球后，

　　说了一句“振聋发聩”的话

　　It's one small step for man;

　　one giant leap for mankind.

　　这是一个人的一小步，却是人类的一大步

　　leap

　　[li:p]

　　to jump high into the air

　　to increase quickly and by a large amount

　　leap 第一个常用解释，为“跳跃”

　　leap 与 jump 相比，更强调“飞跃”的感觉

　　跳跃的距离更大

　　leap 第二个常用解释，为“激增”

　　a leap in profit

　　利润的激增

　　a leap in population

　　人口的激增

　　所以就有了我们“熟悉或者不熟悉”的

　　大跃进

　　the Great Leap Forward

　　(1958-1960)
