My friend, Bobby Lewis, lives in a small town in America. He has two little sons. He took them out to play 36 a sunny Saturday afternoon. A new miniature(小型的) golf club was built nearby, and they decided to go there. When they 37 , Bobby walked to the ticket office and said to the man, “What’s the price for each person?”

The young man answered, “$3.00 for an adult and $3.00 for any kid who is 38 than six. If the kids are six or younger, they don’t need to pay any money. How old are your 39 ?”

Bobby answered, “Jenny is three and Barry is seven, 40 I guess I should pay you $6.00”

The man at the ticket office said, “Hey, sir, did you win lots of 41 or something else? If you told me the tall boy was six years old, you would save three dollars for 42 . I will not know the difference.” Bobby answered, “Oh, 43 what you said is true, but the kids will know the difference. How can I tell a lie 44 my sons just for money?”

Bob had a terrible toothache. It kept him awake all night. He couldn’t eat anything cold or hot. If Bob ate anything sweet, the pain could nearly kill him.

The next morning, Bob went to work. He did not want to ask for leave from work because he had just got this new job, he liked it very much, and he didn’t want to lose it. So he had to take some medicin every two hours to stop the pain.

However, the tooth hurt so much when he tried to eat his lunch. He knew he had to see a dentist.

He asked his boss for two hours’ leave. The boss could see that Bob was in great pain, and told him to rest for half a day.

After examining his teeth carefully, the dentist said, “I can see the problem. There is a hole in one tooth. I’m afraid the hole is too big to fill. I must pull the tooth out.”

“That’s all right,” Bob said, “Just stop the pain.”

The dentist pulled out the tooth and dropped it into the litter basket.

“Don’t throw it away,” Bob said, “Let me have it, please.”

“Why do you want the bad tooth back?” the dentist asked.

“I want to take revenge on it. I’m going to take it home, put it in a bowl of hot water with honey and watch it experience the pain.” Bob said.

In America, 90% of the people are right-handers, while only 10% are left-handers. So almost everything is designed for right-handers. But how do you know you are a left-hander or a right-hander? If it’s convenient for you to play the guitar, you are a right-hander. If you are a left-hander, the situation is quite the opposite. The hand that you often use is called dominant(占支配地位的) hand.

Perhaps you’ve known this since you were very young. But you may not know you also have an eye and side of your brain that are dominant.

There’s a test named “Bright” for the eyes. Hold one arm straight out from thr middle of your body. Use your first finger to point at something far away. First look at the finger with both eyes open. Then close your right eye and look at your finger with your left eye. If you finger seems to stay in the same point, you are left-eyed.

But it is a little harder to find which side of your brain is dominant. It depends on how you hold your pencil. As for right-handers, if your right hand is straight and the pencil points outside, you are left-brained. If your right hand is hooked(弯曲的) and the pencil points inside, you are right-brained. Left-handers, opposite.

If you want to know yourself better, there are more tests about left and right. You may have a try.
