　　Task 1: Do you think it’s a good idea that some schools to require students to finish 40 hours of community service each year.

　　Task 2: Do you agree or disagree with the statement assignments handed in late should receive penalties.

　　Task 3

　　Reading: School will add overhead lights in library, and reduce the use of air conditioners.

　　Listening: the woman disagrees.

　　Reason 1: Since the light is not bright enough, people will still use the table lights. It will cost more electricity.

　　Reason 2: If the school library doesn’t have AC, students don’t want to study in the library. It’s hard to study in dorms with noises going on.

　　Task 4

　　Reading: Virtue by Association—when we don’t know someone well, we will judge this person according to the people or organizations that are related to this person.

　　Lecture: The town where the professor lives had a mayor selection. He voted someone who was born from a nice family because this candidate’s mom used to be a pretty good mayor 20 years ago. However, this new mayor didn’t behave well after being selected.

　　Task 5

　　Problem: The man needs to write research papers, but he lives off campus. So, he wants to buy a printer.

　　Solution 1: he could buy a used one. It’s cheap, but the quality cannot be guaranteed.

　　Solution2: he could buy a new one. He can use it for a long time.

　　Task 6

　　In the lecture, the professor talks about two situations that animals don’t drive others away from their own territories.The first situation is that there is plenty of food in the territory. For example, sunbirds don’t drive other hunters away in places where has a lot of flowers.

　　The second situation is there’s limited resource, so animals won’t waste energy to fight for it. They would look for other places where have better resources.
