One thing that is different from last year is how many bugs there are!I have at least 100 mosquito bites and about 20 fire ant bites.Every time I go outside, horseflies chase me,too!Other than all these annoying bugs,I'm having the best time!

Love,

Tyler

Dear Tyler,

Are you sure you are okay? All of those bugs sound awful!Have you used all of the “ItchBeGone” cream I got you?How about the “Ants's Awful” lotion(护肤液)for the fire ant bites? You and your aunt Ethel have always seemed to attract those nasty fire ants.

Now Tyler,I am very happy that you have met some new friends and that you are having fun together. However, you must stop trying to scare other campers.Remember, honey, some campers may be scared easily.I want you to apologize for any anxiety you may have caused them and start being the nice, polite boy that I know you are.Do you hear me,Tyler? Please be careful.I want you to come home safely.

Love,

Mom

解题导语:这是两封书信。第一封是Tyler写给父母的信,讲述了他有趣的宿营经历;第二封是母亲的回信,字里行间流露出对儿子的担忧。

1.A 解析:细节理解题。第一封信的第一句“Camp is great!”统领下文,Tyler给父母写信是为了讲述他有趣的宿营经历,故A项正确。

2.D 解析:词义猜测题。根据第一封信第二段的第二句“I have at least 100 mosquito bites and about 20 fire ant bites.”可知,Tyler被蚊子和火蚁咬了,再结合画线词所在句的“horseflies chase me, too”中的too可知,此处chase表示“追赶”,即D项正确。

3.C 解析:细节理解题。根据第二封信第二段的第二句“However, you must stop trying to scare other campers.”可知,选C项。

(2016·长春四校联考)Whether they are hunters or the hunted, these cunning animals are all masters of disguise (伪装) who can fool even the most beadyeyed passersby into believing they are not there. Some hide under lily pads, and some dissolve into the bark of a tree while others slip into the snow, either to hide from a hungry predator or to silently stalk (追踪) an unwitting prey.

With their almost perfect camouflage, these animals are some of the Earth's best masters of disguise. However, while they can hide from their predators they cannot escape the sharp eyes of American photographer Art Wolfe, who has spent over 35 years roaming (漫步) the deserts of Africa, the rainforests of South America, the mountains of the United States and snow plains of Canada to capture wildlife at its most invisibility.

The Seattle, WA photographer says that finding and filming these clever animals is a painstaking process, which often takes many hours. However for him, it is definitely worth the time because the thrill of capturing a creature that has managed to blend into its natural habitat so skillfully, is like none other.

His search has taken him to almost every continent in the world — from the deserts of Africa to the rainforests of South America and even, the snow plains of Canada.Over the years he has snapped so many amazing photos that he has been able to showcase them in two books — a children's book entitled Hiding Out that was first published in 2003 and Vanishing Act, which first came to bookstores in 2005 — both have been translated into several languages and been extremely popular all over the world.

And, he is not done yet.The 61yearold man who also happens to be a television producer continues to unearth nature's beauties under lily pads, dissolved into tree trunks or stealthily awaiting their prey in the white snow! Would you have been able to spot any of them if you had not known what they were like in the photographs? Be sure to let us know, by adding your comments below.

答案:

Dear_Mr_Smith,

I would like to know if I could ask for a leave from Dec. 29th to 31st.

On my way home yesterday, I got caught in the heavy rain and got wet totally. What's worse, I found myself having a fever this morning and I went to the clinic for immediate treatment, only to be advised to stay in bed for three days. To support my request, a sick leave certificate by the doctor is enclosed here. As for the missed lessons during my absence, I'll try to make them up as soon as I come back.

I would appreciate it if I could get your permission.

Yours_respectfully,

Li_Hua
