　　The Shantytown Reconstruction Project is a government project in China to transform rundown urban areas, and improve housing conditions for residents. Beginning in 2005, China has carried out extensive shantytown reconstruction projects as part of its strategy of rejuvenating three provinces in China’s Northeast. Premier Li Keqiang has made Shantytown renovation a government priority among projects to improve the people's livelihood. Turning shantytowns into new housing areas is beneficial to improve the lives of the people and promote social harmony.
