　The US national security establishment was rocked by furtherpersonal scandal yesterday when the Pentagon announced thatits top Afghanistan commander was under investigation forpotentially “inappropriate communication” with one of thewomen at the centre of the controversy that brought downthe head of the Central Intelligence Agency.
