The High Five
1. San Antonio Spurs (34-10) – The Spurs followed up their incredible fourth-quarter comeback victory in Phoenix with a 30-point trouncing of the Kings in Sacramento. They are deeper than any team in the league, with a bench that includes Robert Horry, Brent Barry, Beno Udrih, Malik Rose and Devin Brown. It"s almost unfair.
2. Phoenix Suns (32-10) – Steve Nash may have garnered more MVP votes during his four-game absence than he did while leading the Suns on their amazing 31-4 start. Sunday night"s win over New Jersey got this team back on track.
3. Seattle SuperSonics (28-11) – Rashard Lewis is a matchup nightmare. He"s too quick for power forwards and too big for small forwards. The Sonics are 12-6 on the road, with three games away from Key Arena this week.
4. Dallas Mavericks (27-13) – Jason Terry"s hot shooting has helped the Mavericks make a big push in the Southwest Division. He"s shooting over 52 percent, which is an amazing number for a guard.
5. Miami Heat (30-13) – Shaquille O"Neal is having a terrific, MVP-type season. His numbers aren"t otherworldly, but his presence night after night has made the Heat a title contender.
The low fives are New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Hornets, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Bobcats.
