  ① spur n.1、踢马刺;2、刺激(物),鼓励;鼓舞
  This book is a spur to the child ’s intellect and imagination. 这本书激发了那个孩子的智力和想象力。 vt.1、用踢马刺催促(马);2、激励,鞭策
  He spurred his horse and ran aw ay.
  他用踢马刺策马,跑开了。
  The thought of the prize spurred me on.

  ② confront vt.1、面对,遭遇;2、正视;对抗
  Escape being impossible, the rabbit turned to confront the dog.
  逃跑是不可能的,兔子就转过头来和狗对抗。 The disease confronted him with death. 疾病使他面临死亡。
  The difficulties that confront us cannot be overcome. 我们所面临的困难无法克服。 如果用被动时态,则 confronted 后用 w ith 或 by。
  We are confronted by many difficulties.
  我们面临许多困难。
  The explorers were confronted with many challenges.
  探险者遇到了许多挑战。
  ③ reflection n.1、反射,反映,映像;2、沉思,考虑 The reflection of light confused us. 反光使我们头晕眼花。
  The reflection of the sun w as blinding.

  This poem is a reflection of my mood at the time I w rote it.

  He was looking at his reflection in the mirror.

  The w eather forecast reported an easterly drift of w ind.
