Contemporarily, some sociologists recognize this era as a world of strangers, where we frequently lost accesses to get familiar with others. A number of people contend that correlative detail such as the books and movies we take interest in would definitely reflect partial personality. I can’t agree more for that details include things we can’t notice from appearance but could grasp by reasoning, just like one falling leaf acts as indicator of the coming autumn. It is quite considerable to focus our attention on one’s favorite books or movies, which could provide a good reference to get to know people.

Firstly, our decision is usually based on our perception, preference, habit and many aspects of our character, thus the book or movies we choose is a perfect reflection to show ourselves. More specifically, when you wonder if a book is worth reading, your perception in your unconscious mind would automatically force you to make the decision. A girl who advocates feminist tends to choose The Second Sex as her favorite book, highlighting the dignity and independence of women, while a boy who support free speech would be more likely to place 1984 on the top of his list, a book severely criticizes inhuman centralization. Typically, the influence brought by preference and habits work in the same way. Sports fans would enjoy to see films concerning enthusiastic and soul-stirring plots whereas literature lovers appreciate classical works produced by masters. Obviously, focusing on the books one have read or the film seen is indeed conductive to exploring one’s inner world.

Secondly, people’s current condition could be also judged from books or films. Primarily because books and movies not only represent who we are, but also how we are, from which not only reflect what we are doing, but what we did or going to do. That is to say, by simply taking a logical thinking process, we could get to know recent condition of one person. For instance, when we pay a visit to a friend, we could easily guess he must is troubling about final exam by only catching a glimpse of piles of books or papers related to tests. And we are able to start a conversation right away on preparation work, and even could offer some sincere help, thereby consolidating our friendship. Similarly, going through finished list on computer screen provides us with information on his or her psychological states. There is no need to worry about the lacking of common topics no matter he or she is an acquaintance or not. Thus, in order to become a qualified friend, you’d better try to pay attention to some details such as books or films.

Admittedly, books or movies are merely part of our daily life and we probably could not know some special people whose hobbies include a wide range. Nonetheless, we could get to know them through long-time observation. Judging from the proportion of the books or movies they finished can still be a wise choice. After going through the fundamental information indicated by proportion, we could make a wiser judgment in complex relations and at the same time become more flexible in social network.

To put it in a nutshell, I, after my thorough consideration, firmly believe that the books and movies people interested in are the clues to understand the person in a more profound and meticulous manner. (562 words)
