　　海难

　　There was a sailor who suffered a shipwreck off theshore of a small group of islands. He had been sailingalong, having a slight case of sea sickness, when agust of wind shifted the direction of the boat andshoved it into some rocks. The shock threw himsideways off the boat. There was a shipment ofcargo being carried in wooden boxes. One of theseboxes fell into the water. He grabbed onto it to keepafloat and swam ashore.

　　有个水手，在一群小岛之外遇到海难。他感觉轻度晕船，正在向前航行的时候，一股风改变了小船的方向，船撞上了岩石。冲击力把他从船边掀入海里。船上运载的货物装在木箱中。有个箱子落入水中。他抓住箱子浮在水面，游上岸去。

　　When he got to the shore, his skin was shrunken and shriveled, but he wasn't worried about theshrinkage because he would dry out quickly. As the sun was shining brightly, he headed directlyfor the shrubs on the beach. He used them to shield himself from the burning sun. He lay inthe bushes for a while to get over the shocking experience of the shipwreck.

　　上岸后，皮肤起皱萎缩，但他并不担心皮肤起皱，因为身体很快就会干透。太阳高照，他直接走向海滩的灌木丛。他利用灌木丛来抵挡炙热的阳光。为了从这次惊心动魄的海难中恢复过来，他在树丛中躺了一会儿。

　　When he awoke, he decided that he should find some food and shelter for the night. He hadnothing to rely on except his shrewd ability. So he headed over a rise where he saw somethingshiny in the distance. He could see a house with shuttered windows. He searched and finallyfound a shortcut through some thick shrubs. As he approached the house, he saw that therewas a shepherd watching over his sheep. As the shepherd turned around, the man saw that hewas holding a shotgun. As he raised the gun, the sailor instantly sidestepped, and the shotmissed him. The sailor quickly explained his situation, and the shepherd invited him into hishouse saying, "Sorry about the shot. I'm a little shy around strangers. How about some cards? I'll shuffle the deck." The sailor thought to himself, "I don't need a shepherd. I need ashipwright."

　　当他一觉醒来，觉得应该找些东西吃，找个避身之处过夜。除了自己的精明强于，他一无所靠。所以，他走上一个高坡，看到远处有个东西闪闪发光。他可以看到一座房子，它的百叶窗都已关闭了。他寻找着，最后在一些茂密的灌木丛中发现了一条近路。当走近那座房子时，他看到有个牧羊人在看羊。当牧羊人转过身来，他看到牧羊人手里握着一支猎枪。当牧羊人举起枪的时候，水手迅速往旁一闪身，子弹打偏。水手马上向他说明了自己的遭遇，随后，牧羊人邀请他到家里，说道："达一枪真不好意思。我有点惧怕陌生人。打打牌如何?我洗牌。"水手心想："我不需要牧羊人，我需要的是个修船工。"
