　　Of the apparel of the Hui people, the headdress is the most characteristic and distinctive. The men like to wear white turbans, some flat-topped and some hexagonal, while the women usually wear headscarves. Married elderly women wear white to show humility and decency; married middle-aged women wear black to show serenity and elegance; while unmarried women wear green to display pure and wholesome beauty. The Hui women in the mountainous areas also love to wear embroidered shoes, and usually pierce their ears and wear earrings. The Hui people’s costume was included in the first National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006.
