The solar eclipse is divided into annular solar eclipse, total solar eclipse andpartial solar eclipse.
日食分为日环食，日全食和日偏食。
日环食(annular solar eclipse)
An annular eclipse occurs when the sun nears the point where the Earth's orbit intersects with the moon's orbit, and the moon moves to a point which is furthest away from the intersection point at the same time.
日环食的发生是因为太阳靠近月球轨道与地球轨道的一个交点，而同时月球在距此点最远的点上。
日全食(total solar eclipse)
A total eclipse occurs when the sun nears the point where the Earth's orbit intersects with the moon's orbit, and the moon moves to a point which is closet to the intersection point at the same time.
日全食的发生是因为太阳靠近月球轨道与地球轨道的一个交点，而同时月球在距此点最近的点上。
日偏食(partial solar eclipse)
When the moon moves between the Earth and the sun, it will eclipse the sun and cast two types of shadow on the Earth which are umbra and penumbra. People within penumbra shadow will see the sun that is partially covered by the moon, which is so called partial eclipse.
当月球运行到地球与太阳之间时，地球上被月球阴影外侧的半影覆盖的地区，可以看到太阳的一部分被月球挡住，这就是日偏食。
再来说说“月食”(lunar eclipse)，月食包括月全食(total lunar eclipse)、月偏食(partial lunar eclipse)和半影月食(penumbral lunar eclipse)三种。
Unlike a solar eclipse, people can look at a lunar eclipse directly with their naked eyes.
与日食不同的是，人们可以直接用肉眼观看月食。
On the day as the eclipse, the planet Mars will be at its brightest as it travels close to Earth.
在月食当天，火星靠近地球时，将会是火星最明亮的时刻。
