1. food carts指街道上卖食品的推车，可以说“小吃车”;
2. 翻译思维：pop up 指的是“出现”，如：
You solved one problem and another would immediately pop up.
你解决完一个问题，另一个问题又会马上冒出来。
大家注意翻译，英语中是sth pop up，但是翻译的时候，一般说某地出现sth，或sth出现，所以今天这里翻译为“纽约市街头出现了越来越多的小吃车和街头商贩”。
还比如经济学人上这句：
With the labour force shrinking as the population ages, help-wanted ads are popping up in shops across the country.
随着人口老龄化带来的劳动力减少，全国各地的招聘广告层出不穷。
今天的pop up用的是进行时，和are hitting the pavements一个用法，说明越来越多了，翻译的时候不能说“食品车和街头小贩正在出现”，这样不通顺，所以大家要注意进行时的翻译。
3. 细节点：Of 20,000 street vendors across the city, 90% had shut down their business completely可以理解为“90% of 20,000 street vendors across the city had shut down their business since the start of the outbreak in March;
Of the more than 88, 000 female schoolteachers in California surveyed, 7.5% reported having asthma.
对加利福尼亚88,000多名女教师的调查发现，7.5%的人患有哮喘
4. shut down one’s business指(工厂、公司等)关闭，歇业，停业。一般是说由于客观原因被迫歇业。
5. 这句用的是had shut down过去完成时，因为时间状语是since the start of the outbreak in March “自3月份爆发疫情以来”，since的主句用完成时，商贩现在已经开业了，所以不能是现在完成时，而是过去完成时。
6. 翻译思维：with the warmer weather是伴随状语，with表示“随着”，warmer本来是形容词，但是不能翻译为“随着更暖的天气”，汉语喜动喜句子。
所以要把with the warmer weather翻译为句子“随着天气变暖”，这样更符合汉语的表达习惯。
回译的时候刚好相反，英语喜静，我们经常说“随着经济发展”，就可以翻译为with the economic growth.
7. cabin fever：又称作House Syndrom, 是指长期宅在室内而闷出的毛病，一般翻译为幽居病。原文是说因为疫情的原因，人们长期宅在家，可能患上幽居病。
8. pavement：指的是(马路边的)人行道，注意在原文中是the pavements，因为道路不止一条，也可以说the sidewalks。
9. Hit：这里的hit+地点含义是“去什么地方，来到什么地方”。比如我们说“去图书馆”就可以说hit the library.
这不只是Mara的感受，几位做生意的朋友也说了，今天生意不如去年了。那“大家都有这种感受”英语怎么说呢?我们看看这句：

Mutual本意是“互相的”，The feeling is mutual直译就是“感觉是互相的”，也就是说“大家都是这样感受的”，如金融时报例句：
