　　Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In the past young people depended on their parents for making decisions. Today, young people are better able to make decisions on their own.

　　Obviously, young people nowadays have more freedom to make their own decisions than in the past and therefore, I agree with the statement above.

　　On the one hand, it is a social custom for parents in the past to help their children make decisions and children seldom were able to do what they like. When children were small, males will be made to attend schools and learn to acquire skill, while females were made to stay at home and learn to make embroideries. In China, girls have to have their feet bound when they were five or six years old so that they would be able to marry a good man in the future. Little children would suffer from great pain when their feet were bound. But they have to listen to their parents. When children grew up, their parents would help them choose their life-long partners. Young people were not free to choose their spouse in old times.....
