　　颐和园，位于北京市西北郊海淀区，距北京城区约15千米。始建于清代乾隆年间(1750年---1764年)。利用昆明湖、万寿山为基址，以杭州西湖风景为蓝本，汲取江南园林的某些设计手法和意境而建成的一座大型天然山水园，也是保存得最完整的一座皇家行宫御苑，占地约290公顷。1998年11月被列入《世界遗产名录》。

　　The Summer Palace, located in Haidian District, northwest Beijing, is about 15km from the city proper. It was built during the Qianlong Reign in the Qing Dynasty (1750-1764) with Kongming Lake and Wanshou Mountain as its basic layout and the West Lake landscape as its blueprint, together with some design methods and atmosphere from Jiangnan landscaped gardens. It is a masterpiece of natural gardening with mountains and water as well as the best preserved rural palace with an area of about 290 hectares. The Summer Palace was included in the World Heritage List in November 1998.
