Girls of Daban Town
"Girls in Daban Town" was the first Uighur ballad composed by Wang Luobin. Written in Lanzhou of Gansu Province, it was also the first Uighur ballad to be accompanied by modern Chinese language in any time period. After recording this ballad in Uighur tongue in 1938, Wang Luobin had the piece translated and then rewrote the lyrics in Chinese. With its lively tune accompanied by short, eloquent, and simple lyrics, it has an important place in musical history.
