　　科举制，又称“科举”，是中国古代通过考试选拔官吏的制度。由于采用分科取士的办法，所以科举。科举制从隋朝(一说唐朝)开始实行，直至清光绪卅一年(1905年)为止，前后经历一千三百余年，成为世界延续时间最长的选拔人才的办法。对中国在内的汉文化圈诸多国家影响深远。

　　The imperial civil examination system, also known as "ke ju" in Chinese, is a system established to select officials through examination in ancient China. It selected the talent for specific disciplines. Featuring the longest duration in the world, it spanned over 1,300 years from the Sui Dynasty (Tang Dynasty in another version) to the 21st year of Emperor Guangxu of Qing, as the method for selection of talents. It exerted far-reaching influence on many countries in the circle of the Han culture, including China.
