　　a.时刻的读法

　　5：00 five (o’clock) (sharp)

　　5:10 ten past five 或 five ten

　　5:15 a quarter past/after five 或 five fifteen

　　5:30 five thirty或 half past five

　　5:45 a quarter to six 或 five forty-five

　　0:15 a quarter past或 after midnight

　　b.年月日的读法

　　1493年9月1日：september the first fourteen ninety-three

　　2001年: two thousand and one

　　公元前1060年: one thousand and sixty B.C

　　前天the day before yesterday

　　后天the day after tomorrow

　　前几天the other day

　　每隔一天every other day或 every two days

　　下星期这个时候this time next week

　　两星期fortnight

　　每月monthly

　　每季度quarterly

　　每年yearly

　　十年a decade

　　100年a century

　　c.时间推算

　　一般来说，正确答案不会是直接听到的时间，往往是在意思上与之相同或相近，或换了一种表达方式，或要求在听到的时间信息的基础上进行简单的运算。做这类题时，听清时间与发生时间的关系是关键。注意下面有关时间提前或推后的表达法：

　　提前或提早半小时：half an hour early; thirty minutes early; early by half an hour; half an hour ahead of time; half an hour ahead of schedule

　　推迟或迟到半小时：an hour and a half late; late by one hour and a half; an hour and a half behind time; an hour and a half behind schedule; to miss…,by an hour and a half; to be delayed/prolonged/put off/postponed for an hour and a half.

　　a.基数词和序数词

　　电话号码: 按照数字的顺序逐个读出

　　b.分数和小数的表达

　　分数读法是以基数词为分子，序数词为分母(1/2除外，分子大于1时，序数词加s)。例如：

　　1/2: one half

　　1/4: one fourth; one quarter

　　3/4: three quarters

　　9/10: nine tenths

　　8:7: eight to seven

　　小数的读法比较简单，按照数词的顺序逐个读，遇到小数点读做point，零读做zero。例如：

　　0.6: zero point six

　　12.65: twelve point sis five

　　0.5%: decimal five percent

　　c.货币名称和价格的读法

　　英国货币：penny便士(复数形式pence)。pound英镑: 1pound=100pence,£20.60读作:twenty pounds sixty pence 或者简单读作twenty sixty:

　　美国货币coin:硬币: quarter25美分: dime10美分; nickel 5美分;penny 1美分; 1dollar=100cents

　　$20.60读作： twenty dollars sixty cents 或者简单读作 twenty sixty;

　　英语中原价一般放在商品名称之前作定语，而实际所付款则由介词来引导。例如：

　　He bought a twenty-dollars sweater for half price.

　　他用半价买了一件原价为20美元的运动衫。

　　I bought a ninety-dollar suit for one third off the regular price.

　　我用比原价少1/3的价钱买了套90美元的衣服。

　　大家还应该熟悉听力中以下有关价格的常用单词和词组：

　　表示正常价格：regular price, normal price;

　　表示价格划算：a good buy, a better buy, an excellent price, a good price/bargain;

　　表示价格较贵：dear, expensive, more expensive, steep;

　　表示价格便宜：cheap, inexpensive, bargain price, less expensive;

　　表示减价出售：sale price, on sale, garage sale, Christmas sale, special price;

　　词组;discount , half, double, cut off, knock off, 20% off the price(), twice as much as, cross off, etc.

　　d.其他与数字有关的英语表达方式

　　couple一对;dozen一打;twice两次;three times三次;double增加两倍;triple增加三倍

　　e.一些容易混淆的数字

　　特别是-teen 和–ty的区别，首先，teen和 ty在发音上不同，前者为[ti:n]，后者为[ti];其次，这两个后缀构成的音节在单词中的重音有区别，前者构成的数字有两个重读音节，后者构成的音节不重读。
