Today, Tamils in Canada and around the world will mark the beginning of Thai Pongal, the four-day Tamil Harvest Festival.
Thai Pongal is a time to give thanks for the many gifts of the harvest.
It’s a chance to come together with friends and family and celebrate peace, abundance, and happiness.
In January, we also mark Tamil Heritage Month and reflect on the strong roots of Canada’s Tamil community.
Tamil Canadians make important contributions to our country and help keep Canada open, inclusive, and strong.
As we move forward together in 2018, let’s continue to celebrate the values that unite us and work every day to make Canada a better and even more inclusive country.
On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish everyone celebrating a happy Thai Pongal and a happy Tamil Heritage Month.
